The Importance of Your Morning
I have a confession to make...
I tend to work too much.
Not only that, I forget to make time to focus on myself.
One of the ways I’m working to combat this is by re-implementing my morning routine practice.
Ha ha, that’s right, re-implementing. Meaning, I totally confess that I have let something really important (self-care) slide, and I am working to fix it. It happens..
This may sound like just one more thing to add to your list, but having a morning routine, even if it’s 15-30 minutes, can make a world of difference in your day.
As an introvert and empath, it’s critical to my well-being to take energy in before expending energy helping clients and taking care of those around me. Protecting and nourishing my own energy is a number one priority. You know, filling your own cup and all.
Normally, my routine is about 30-45 minutes (depending on the day). Today, it was some sage smudging, meditation, and coffee, followed by a bath while reading The War of Art, then a 20 minute, sunshine-filled walk with Harley, our youngest dog.
Coming back home and starting the morning off on a more centered note allows me a less chaotic day, and one that’s filled with intention. I didn’t roll out of bed and check social media or email (which I do have a bad habit of doing), I rolled out of bed, let the dogs out and started my routine. And oh what a difference it makes!
Do you have a morning routine? If not, are you going to try and implement one?
I’d love to hear all about yours! I’m always looking for new ways to start my day off right!
